HAUNTED is a word that denotes an unresolved parallel, a presence that is not quite a presence; a visitation by the as yet unspeakable - it is also emblematic of the longing for incarnation, of an unbearable substrate of wanting, of not finding a home in this world or in the next, someone or something that walks the halls of our house or our mind looking for what will help to lay its own self to rest. What haunts us is something that seeks its own disappearance, it wants to become fully itself and so depart. If we feel continually haunted over time we begin to become ghost-like ourselves and roam with intent whilst not quite knowing the object of our intention. Looking in the mirror, our face begins to look like our not quite incarnated life. We walk not exactly existing in the world we visit. Like the spirits and half-beings we imitate at Halloween, we roam the streets as if looking for an abode on this earth we are unable to locate, demanding tribute from those who dwell w...

http://risk-show.com/podcast/surrender/ I listened to this story yesterday and it was really moving. Not so much because it spoke to me directly, though it was powerful, but because I hope there is someone who will take the time to listen, and maybe for her it will make a difference.... I don't know but perhaps for everyone there is some tipping point for self forgiveness... And maybe it begins with a mantra that can help let go of whatever it is that is holding you back. I don't know, but maybe.... Sorry the link didn't work the first time but it should now.....

Here is another physical visualization of energy and intuitive communication. Maybe turn the music down when you watch this. It was a bit much for me, but the images are incredible. I want to paint something with this energy in it...for me it is the visualization of the unseeable made visible. Like the energy between two people that can be felt, but not seen....

In the 17th century, a gardener created a strange book of birds in which the illustrations were completely made of feathers. The Feather Book is a 1618 manuscript by Dionisio Minaggio , chief gardener in the State of Milan, held by McGill University Library . While little is known about its past, it is one of the world’s oldest preserved feather collections.

The World I Live In

I visited my friend Paulus a few weeks ago and he read me this poem, from Mary Oliver's new book Felicity which hadn't come out yet. They are friends, so he knew it already. I met her once with him in the garden at Penland when she was visiting him. He read it from his journal, where he had written it out by hand, and I meant to copy it down, though I ran out of time and never did. But it made it's way into the New York times October 14, so I can share it now. It spoke to me...happy I rediscovered it before too much time had passed. The World I Live In I have refused to live locked in the orderly house of reasons and proofs. The world I live in and believe in is wider than that. And anyway, what's wrong with Maybe? You wouldn't believe what once or twice I have seen. I'll just tell you this: only if there are angels in your head will you ever, possibly, see one. I love it. xox

Some of my finished work from Serbia. Last night my friend read my palm. Each finger and the lines in both left and right hands. It was deep, and dark, and confirmed things I mostly already knew. And maybe some I needed to trust a little more. One of the things she brought up was the Lotus Flower as life lesson/metaphor as seen in my palm. Lotus flower roots go deep down into the dark muck to get their nourishment.... the more one embraces the lesson, the better the blossom up above..... This delicate piece survived the fire with a story to tell from my time there, and there were many. i've been really busy, but soon I will share more photos from my journey last summer.

Empathy 14: A female humpback whale had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) an d radioed for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her…. a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of h...
