Olympos, Turkey

Image
Olympos  ( Greek :  Ὄλυμπος ) was an ancient city in  Lycia . It was situated in a river valley near the coast. Its ruins are located south of the modern town  Çıralı  in the  Kumluca  district of  Antalya Province ,  Turkey .  When it got too hot we would go for a swim to cool down in the delicious sea.  Walking in the ruins made me wonder how long our cities will last.  One of the artists made a print of the writing above to use as texture, and as a subtext while working in this ancient place.

Turkey from the air

I was in Turkey for two weeks participating in a ceramic/painting workshop that took place in Olympos Turkey.  The story will follow over the next few days!  Here is a view from the sky, probably somewhere between Istanbul and Antalya where I landed.  The workshop took place outside a small treehouse hotel near the beach, and the side of a very old city now in ruins.  It was both very hot, and glorious!  Most of the participants were from Turkey, but there were a few others as you can see!

My cousins are in a band and they asked me to design a T-Shirt for them.  I made the drawing and Max put the rest of it together.  Two brothers singing together.  It's pretty great, and I'm happy they liked the design!!
