Technical Problems

I'm having problems with these larger format plates, with the underpainting chipping off on the edges.  This one had the least amount of chipping, but I'll still have to try and fix it.  Ceramics can be incredibly frustrating, especially for one as untechnical as me.....

I had the same problem - mine was caused by my terra sig - on too thick and only the terra sigs that had Rutile in them.

hmmmmm. I'll have to check that out. I know thickness is a problem. Was it only on the edges? Or all over??

Jenny - mostly on the edges - but with one of my terra sigs that I had added colorants, it flaked all over. I don't have a ball mill and think some of the heavier colorants don't get mixed well. I use a rock tumbler (with marbles). It's not quite the same. lol - -

I didn't have the flaking issues if I only applied one coat - with any of the terra sigs.
