Book Club - The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton

This week I'm listening to The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton.  Just started yesterday.  It's intriguing, also a very detailed story to follow, so I've had to get back in the habit of turning off my thoughts, and listening as intently as possible.  I get the sense that it might need another listening to, to be able to follow it properly, still I'm really enjoying the writing immensely and it feels like a puzzle that is slowly revealing itself.  Or is it?  Time will tell, it's a long one.  And just what I needed to refocus before I leave on my trip.  I've been working on the bowl all day listening & listening....

Hi Jenny, thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a listen. I really enjoyed Aravind Adiga's The White Tiger, it lead me to another of his The Last Man in Tower which was also fantastic.
As of late I've been engaged in a series by L.A. Meyer read by Katherine Kellgren. I've found her reading to be some of the best I've ever heard, she adds much nuance to the story, highly recommended.
I hope your gardens doing well, here in Nova Scotia we had frost last night so I'm still hesitant on the planting anything tender. Cheers

Hi Kevin! I loved White Tiger, and I will definitely go find The Last Man in the Tower. So excited! I've also got the Hare with the Amber Eyes after the one I'm working on now....I'd been trying to find it from my local library for a long time and finally got it. If you haven't read it, I've heard rave reviews of it..... I'm still planting lots.... will take some photos to share my progress. I hope it is warm enough now for you to give it a go :) Have a nice weekend!! Jenny
