Sir Ken Robinson on Creativity

Since today is the first day of the 8 week class I'll be teaching at Penland School, I thought I would share this talk on creativity.  It made me think, and laugh!  A good combination.

A gift from someone who inherited an entire storage locker full of this bisqued commercial dinnerware and is trying to figure out what to do with it.  I'm going to take some down to my class at  Penland and encourage the students to go wild.  Sometimes it is easier to do this with something you didn't actually make yourself.

Elizabeth Gilbert : Your elusive creative genius

Whether or not you are a fan of hers, this is a great Ted Talk about working and being an artist and where it all comes from.  It definitely spoke to me.  I think I'll listen again now!

One Scary Night

Image
There was a big storm Friday night just as the art fair was about to begin.  Somebody made a good decision to cancel it before it began and direct everyone to safety.  My tent was ok, thankfully, but when the sky turned the blackest I've ever seen it, I got very scared and we got out of there in a hurry just as it began to rain.  My heart went out to the tents that weren't as hardy, and to the people that sustained damage.  It could have been any of us... The radar picture just as the storm hit.  We were right in the red zone. The next two days were cool and clear, thankfully.
