My cousins are in a band and they asked me to design a T-Shirt for them.  I made the drawing and Max put the rest of it together.  Two brothers singing together.  It's pretty great, and I'm happy they liked the design!!

Book Club - The Hare with Amber Eyes

Image
I am most productive and focused it seems, when I have a good book to listen to.  Two days in, I am smitten, & thoroughly engaged, and halfway through.  While I am loving listening to this book, I think I would like to read it as well.  There is so much in every sentence that I know I want to read it, to take it in, word by word.  The writer is actually a potter, and has written an amazing family memoir, and I love the reader.  Basically it's great.  I have been meaning to read it for several years, and now, finally, so happy I have entered into his worlds. http://www.amazon.com/The-Hare-Amber-Eyes-Inheritance/dp/0312569378

First Aid Kit - Stay Gold (Acoustic)

Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost

Image
Nature's first green is gold,  Her hardest hue to hold.  Her early leafs a flower;  But only so an hour.  Then leaf subsides to leaf.  So Eden sank to grief,  So dawn goes down to day.  Nothing gold can stay.

Insect Sgrafitto

Image
Today I took a good look at the lilly pads in my pond.  From a distance they looked normal.  But upon closer inspection I could see another story.  On the one hand the leaves looked diseased, attacked, but from another point of view, an amazing story of insect life and choreography.  Where is the truth?  It reminded me how easy it to miss what is really going on in the world, and with the people that come in and out of our lives.    How can we learn to see more than the surface story?  These leaves were so beautiful to me, even in their distressed state. The lovely language of scarification made visible.  I appreciated seeing the trace of what they had been through that I might have never known or even guessed at had it not been made visible, permanently tattooed for the season, for anyone that might take the time to look, like sgrafitto.

The birds are singing with the daylight and I've been waking up at 5:00.  It's nice all this natural music outside my window.. plus sometimes after being up for a while I take a little nap and that is the best and deepest and most delicious sleep  :)  i love it!

They barely admit to being friends, and yet this afternoon they were caught in an act of togetherness while they thought no one was looking.  Luckily this photographer was there to witness what she had sensed, but had never seen...until today.

Have a beautiful Sunday

This beautiful plant blew into my garden last fall.  I thought it was something I planted, but it turns out she arrived all on her own.  She survived the cold cold winter, and presented herself, a universe of white and yellow and green.  I'm so happy I let her grow until I knew who she would become.
